We approach each project with seven objectives, listed below. This helps to ensure that no aspect of a project is overlooked and that every client is fully involved in the design and, execution.
Design Brief
Your design brief is the first stage of any interior project. This allows us to get to know you, your ideas and tastes. It may include colours, textures or styles. The process also helps us to create a design that will really work for you.
Completing the design brief helps our clients to analyse how they use their homes and to discover whether alterations, different use of space, or the creation of a new space, such as loft extensions, basement coversions and conservatories, would help achieve the most suitable and creative solutions for your property and needs.
Space Planning
Space planning is generally undertaken after the interior design brief has been agreed. Space planning is all about the best use interior space. This allows the client to consider how existing space could be adapted, or possibly enlarged.
Space planning establishes the benefits of any conversion or extension and considers how any newly created space could be used to its full potential.
Concept Design
We provide concept drawings to illustrate the likely appearance of the interior space after the design scheme has been completed. These drawings are not imtended for formal planning applications or to put any bespoke furniture into manufacture, but they will give clients a good understanding of our ideas. The concepts can be produced as mood / sample boards, colour floor plans and elevations, window treatment sketches and perspective views (black and white or colour).
Production Drawings (only when structural work is proposed)
After the concept design has been agreed we produce production drawings for any applications for planning. These will be scaled drawings that show our intended solution tothe design issues, such as, removing a wall and fitting an R.S.J. Completed drawings will also enable us to calculate provisional costs for the building and structural works. The costs of the fixtures, fittings and furnishings will follow once we source products that fulfill a client's brief and budget.
Design Detailing
Design detailing includes the production of the accurately scaled drawings that will be used for tender, construction and manufacturing processes. The purpose of the design detailing is to obtain an accurate costing for each part of the project and to ensure that exacting construction, manufacturing and design standards are maintained.
The package will include all agreed materials and product specifications for the client to approve before any construction work or manufacture is carried out.
Specifications
Once the design detailing has been completed and agreed, a full specification of works will be drawn up. This detailed specification includes all elements (materials, fabrics, finishes, etc.) for joinery, lighting / electrics, sanitaryware, audio, visual and fabrics.
We will also arrange for clients to visit the suppliers and manufactures if so required.
Alongside the specification of works we produce an accurate order of works. This informs the timescales for each individual aspect of the project, and proposed completion dates. The main benefit of the order of works is that both contractors and clients can closely monitor progress at every stage.
Project Management
We, too, will monitor progress and ensure that the project runs smoothly from start to finish. We hope we will have gained the client's trust so that, while we are undertaking the day-to-day running of the project, the client is confident that their interior will be created efficiently, within budget, on-time and to high standards.
